YOK meeting

Being YÖK scholarship recipients, the students from the Pakistani administered Kashmir have raised some cash donation by themselves for the earthquake victims of Elazığ and Malatya. Both the cities of Turkey were badly affected by the earthquake of January 24, 2020. They handed over this donation to the Vice President of YÖK Prof. Dr. Rahmi ER for its onward transmission to the earthquake victims.
These students were of the view that their country had faced similar natural calamity in 2005 due to which more than 80,000 people lost their lives. They said that they did not forget the support and help offered by the Turkish nation to the people of Pakistan and Azad Jammu & Kashmir during that difficult time. The students also said that they can better feel the pain and sufferings of the earthquake victims. Although the amount of raised money is not so high, but it is the gesture of our love and emotions for the brothers and sisters of Elazığ and Malatya, they added. The donation received from the students were deposited by YÖK to the official account of Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Directorate (AFAD).
